I had a great time attending the Choose Respect Rally and March here in Juneau! We must continue to work hard to bring awareness to this issue and end this horrible epidemic.
Wow! The Education Committee has been busy! We have met several times to hear HB 278 “EDUCATION: FUNDING/TAX CREDITS/PROGRAMS” which has now passed out of committee and is in the House Finance Committee now. My staff is continuing to follow this bill as it goes through the process, a good education is important to our children’s future!
We have also heard the following:
HB 210 “STUDENT RESTRAINT, SECLUSION, PSYC DRUGS” which has moved out of committee and is now in the House Finance Committee.
HB 318 “ANNUAL SCHOOL REPORT: MILITARY FAMILIES” which is now in the Rules Committee.
HB 341 “SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION, DESIGN & FUNDING” which was heard and held.
These are just a few of the bills that have been heard. To follow the bills we are hearing in the Education Committee: http://bit.ly/1fUSfQx
We heard HJR 19 BASE F-35 AIRCRAFT AT EIELSON AFB from Rep. Isaacson which was passed from committee. I had previously signed on as co-sponsor of the bill and I proudly voted for it to pass from committee. I look forward to it passing on the house floor.
We also heard HB 212 DRIVER’S LICENSING EXEMPTION: MILITARY which was heard and held. This bill spurred alot of conversation and I am looking forward to learning more about this bill in our next committee meeting.
Military & Veterans Affairs Committee is scheduled to meet next on Tuesday, Feb 11th.
We are ready to start session! Although I miss Anchorage I am excited to be back in Juneau. This is where I get to work on behalf of my friends in our district. I anticipate a great legislative session. We are blessed to have many talented and dedicated people in Alaska and it is shaping up to be a productive spring.
I look forward to making our district a better place to Live, Work, and Play!
